Click here to place your online reserves Director's Note Gary Branson, Executive Director Community partners in literacy initiative. We became the Marion County partner in the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library in April of 2020. If you aren't familiar with the program, it insures an age-appropriate book is sent each month from The Dolly Parton Imagination Library to children age 0-5 registered in the program for free. Currently, the State of Ohio covers half of the cost it takes to process and mail the books to children. Marion Public Library works to find community partners to cover the other half of the cost. We can only continue to grow the number of children registered with donations to the fund that pays Marion County's half of the processing and mailing. Each and every contribution is greatly appreciated and counts toward one more book in the hands of a child. With the help of these MAJOR contributors we are building our Marion Community Foundation fund to support the growing number of registrations. In Marion County, 47% of all children who are eligible for the program are registered and we are working to add more daily. Marion County Council on Aging has supported these collections through their grants to be used for services or projects that benefit Marion County residents age 60 and older. Large print and audio books are primarily used by individuals who like the bigger text or have a problem with their eyesight or prefer listening to a book.
