We will be welcoming authors Kiley Reid and Jasmine Guillory to our Juneteenth Author Event on Friday, June 17 at Marion Public Library. Reid's most recent book is Such A Fun Age. Guillory's newest, By The Book, comes out May 10. Join us to hear from these two popular authors as we celebrate Juneteenth. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. Mark your calendar now for this no-cost community celebration. Books by the authors will be available for sale. This night is a few years in the making as it was being planned before COVID shut everything down. We thank Marion Community Foundation for a grant that supplemented the gathering of these two authors. And... The BookMarks' October Speaking Volumes fundraising event will host author Ruth Ozeki who's most recent book is The Book of Form and Emptiness. She will visit the library, mingle, do a program and sign books Friday, October 28. Save the date for the Sixth Speaking Volumes event brought to you by the BookMarks and Marion Public Library. A membership with the BookMarks of Marion Public Library begins on May 1 and is good for a year - through April 30. We are actively looking for more BookMarks Members. If you are not a member, please download the membership tri-fold and return it, along with payment, to the BookMarks at the address on the form. Consider sharing a membership form with your neighbors or friends as well. Why should you become a member? · Support the operations and programs of Marion Public Library · Receive an extended 14 days on checked loan materials (excludes digital) · Receive invitations to exclusive BookMarks events, such as the book sale preview · Get up-to-date information from our electronic newsletter · Higher levels include discounts in BookMarket and on some event tickets All proceeds to the BookMarks benefit the programs and services of the Marion Public Library. BookMarket Reopens... The BookMarks BookMarket reopens Tuesday, May 3 with regular hours again. Check their calendar for scheduled dates and times. Get your favorite magazines from Libby (The Ohio Digital Library) You now have access to over 3,000 magazines from the Libby app on your tablet, smartphone, or most e-readers or your browser on your computer/laptop. You will never have to wait for an issue or place them on hold, and the magazines do not count towards your checkout limit of 20 books and/or audiobooks. Magazines are also downloadable for offline reading. With your library card, you have access to Rolling Stones, The Economist, Good Housekeeping, Newsweek, Knit & Spin, Wired, Men’s Health, and so much more. Need help getting started?
