We know we are "speaking to the choir" when we talk about signing up for a library card. You are receiving this newsletter email because you already HAVE your card. Thank you for being an active patron and using the resources the "lifelong learning card" affords you. What we do ask of you is to spread the word about the advantages of having a library card and visiting your library. Here are just a few you can share: : : Books galore - way more books than one could ever read. : : Access to databases -- all part of lifelong learning where you can upgrade professional skills, do genealogy and research, learn a new language, find business advice, seek out jobs and so much more : : More than books - you can check out magazines or movies, or peruse through hours of microfilm. : : Digital access - most everything mentioned is available on your digital device from the comfort of your own home with your library card. : : Computer Access - desktop computers with internet access are available for public use. : : Quiet Space - and a newspaper to enjoy in a quiet space : : Someone to help you -- our librarians are here to help with your research, your questions, to make suggestions and give support when needed. We are almost there..... Look for Ribbon Cutting news on the Let's Read 20 and Marion Public Library facebook pages for the permanent Book Walk at Marion Tallgrass trail. The stanchions are in, the book is being laminated, and the pages will be placed soon. And we are planning a celebration Ribbon Cutting with community friends. This fun project was made possible through a grant from Marion Community Foundation for Let's Read 20. We are connecting readers with active ways of learning and literacy and have had the pleasure of working with a few community partners on this project. All for the good of the community.
