A History of Bluegrass Music
Tuesday, October 10 @ 5:30 pm

This program explores the Bluegrass genre from Bill Monroe’s 1st spot on the Grand Old Opry in 1939, through Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, The Stanley Bros, and many other pioneers. Using guitar, mandolin, banjo, and vocals,  attendees come away with a deeper understanding of America’s bluegrass music. Come enjoy music and history from the 30s through 60s with some Gospel and sing-alongs mixed in.

This 1.5hr course is led by:
Bill Purk and Reed Jones
Bill Purk is a graduate of Urbana College and has a Master’s degree from the University of Dayton.
Reed Jones is an accomplished instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter, having several songs published and recorded. Jones is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, and is working on his Master’s.
