BalletMet Wellness Workshop
Tuesday, October 3 @ 10:00 am
(class size limited to 20)

This interactive wellness workshop focuses on exploring dance as a method for promoting health at all ages. We will begin with a brief presentation on the benefits of dance training as part of physical health, mental well-being, and community building. We will then transition into an open level movement class that is inspired by ballet and contemporary dance aesthetics with options for both seated and standing work. The workshop will finish with a discussion on resources for continuing practice. We welcome movers of all skills and backgrounds, no previous dance experience is necessary.  Participants can expect to gain information on how to incorporate dance as a part of an active and healthy lifestyle.

This 2hr course is led by:
Megan Tedrick, the Education Programs Coordinator at BalletMet. She has served on the faculty for BalletMet’s Education
department and Academy since 2015 and as an adjunct professor at Ohio University since 2017; her teaching credits include creative movement, ballet, modern, jazz, and adult beginner ballet. She also holds her 600-hour Comprehensive
Certification from Power Pilates and has been teaching the method since 2011. Megan earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography and her Master’s of Arts in Community Dance from Ohio University. Her Master’s research centered around interdisciplinary dance programming in elementary schools. Her work on Inclusive Ballet Practices has been presented during the 2022 and 2023 OhioDance festivals. Megan is a strong advocate for making dance accessible and enjoyable for participants of all ages and backgrounds.
